Liddy will teach how to make effective use of composition, to put together a creative layout across a few sketchbook pages and how to observe and work in response to the environment you're in by creating artwork on location, before starting on a watercolour painting. We'll provide materials and a sketchbook for you to keep too. About our art activities. You'll be guided by our very friendly, and knowledgeable art tutor, Liddy. You are free to take as much guidance as you like, but we certainly won't restrict your creative flair.     Join us in Ikea's spacious restaurant on a Monday morning for a gently guided art session Running from 10am to 12noon we'll provide all the materials for you to paint the week's theme, expertly guided by Nicole.     Only formally involved with the Surrealist movement in England for a few years, Colquhoun first gained her reputation as a surrealist, and identified as a surrealist for the rest of her life. She used many automatic techniques, which were described in André Breton's first surrealist manifesto as a defining feature of surrealism, and invented several automatic techniques herself - Wikipedia Sun 23rd March 7pm - Sunflower 1936 What do I need?   • Sketch in the Park - Emberton

    Join us to Sketch in the Park! This open-air sketching class in the beautiful country park will provide you with the skills necessary to create great preliminary drawings for your paintings . Guided by Liddy we'll begin with some gentle drawing exercises and then get out on a planned route around the park as we take a number of different scenes. Whether you are a beginner or a more experienced artist, this class will help you improve your sketching abilities in a relaxed, natural setting. We will provide all drawing materials, but you will need a sketchbook.     In 1906, Vanessa Bell started to think of herself as an artist, she went on to form the Friday Club to create a community in London that was supportive of painting. Bell was encouraged by the Post-Impressionist exhibitions organised by Roger Fry, and she reproduced their bold forms and vivid colours in her artworks. In 1914, she turned to Abstraction.     Drawing on the styles and techniques of some very well known artists you will be guided through this session to create your version of a piece in the style of David Hockney. Sat 15th Feb 3pm - Morning Sainte-Maxime We will look at examples of the artist's work to gain an understanding of the characteristics and traits of their work and how we might carry that forward and use similar methods in our own work What do I need?
